From the Ingredients tab of the Inputs listing page, click on an ingredient to view its Ingredient Details page.

On an Ingredient Details page, users can view key information about that ingredient, such as:
- Notes: Store notes directly on an ingredient (A).
- Chemical Information: By entering information into the CAS # attribute field (B), Uncountable can draw chemical information—such the ingredient’s chemical diagram, molecular weight, and SMILES string—directly from a PubChem (C).
- Category: Ingredients must be assigned to a single category (D). When added to a recipe, ingredients will be grouped by their assigned category. Categories are also useful for filtering calculations (i.e. applying logic based on ingredient category).
- Subcategory: Ingredients can also be assigned to multiple subcategories (E). Subcategories not directly associated with categories. They function more like tags, useful when searching for ingredients with similar properties. For example, if “Polymer” is a category, you could have subcategories like “Crosslinker” and “Epoxy resin”.
- Ingredient Attributes: Ingredients can have attributes which describe their properties, such as supplier info, molecular weight, density, weight solids, cost, technical data sheets (TDS), or other characteristics (F).
- Material Families: Shows which material families the ingredient is available in (G). Add the ingredient to a new material family using the “Select Material Family” menu.
- Note: Since ingredients are shared across material families, users must have “Write” permissions for all material families the ingredient is used in to be able to edit the ingredient.
- Similar Ingredient Tags: Similar ingredient tags can be added to an ingredient to associate it directly with similar ingredients (H). This simplifies swapping out ingredients during recipe formulation. When searching for an ingredient to add on the Enter Recipe page, the selection menu will also display its tagged similar ingredients.
- Lots: Represent batches of the ingredient with specific properties (I). Clicking on a lot provides detailed metadata and testing information. Learn more about lots.
- Users can also set a default lot in the Default Lot field (J). When the ingredient is used, the platform will pull from the default lot first.
- Inventory History: Details changes to inventory amounts at a specific lot location (K).
- Default Annotations: Add additional information—such as safety warnings or handling instructions—which automatically appears when the ingredient is added to a recipe (L). Ingredients with annotations are indicated with symbols on the Enter Recipe page and clicking on it displays annotation information in a popover window.
- Ingredient Usage: A list of ingredient usage by user (M).
