Creating New Input Calculations

This article offers a brief summary of the basics of creating new input calculations in Uncountable. For a more in-depth explanation, refer to Input Calculations.

In Uncountable, input calculations can be created on the Calculations listing page or on the Enter Page directly. Both methods are discussed in the sections below.

From the Listing Page

To create a new input calculation from the Calculations listing page, click the “+ Create Calculation” button.

In the modal, fill out the following information:

  • Calculation Name: Name the input calculation.
  • Calculation Format: There are seven input calculation formats in Uncountable.
    • Weighted Sum or Average: Used for recipe-level and ingredient-level calculated values. Examples include formulation cost, total % solids, or moles NCO.
    • Custom: For calculations using variables like ingredients, process parameters, or ingredient attributes.
    • Date: For date-based calculations.
    • Text Match: For matching text patterns.
    • Composite: A hybrid of Custom and Weighted Sum/Average calculations that allows combining multiple entities with numerators and denominators.
    • Chemical Balance: For synthesis applications, requiring chemical structure attributes.
    • Experiment Summary: For summarizing experiment data.
  • Units: Set the units for the calculation.

From the Enter Recipe Page

Users can also create new input calculations directly from the Enter Recipe page by clicking the “Add Calculations” button and selecting “Create Calculation”. This can also be done from within the Add Inputs modal.

This method will return the same new ingredient modal, within which users can fill out ingredient name, material families, categories, and attributes.

Note:

  • Only users with “Write” input permission for a material family can create new input calculations or edit existing calculations within that material family.
  • The ability to create new calculations from the Enter Recipe page can be gated behind an approval, by customer request. To do so, contact your Uncountable representative.
