Entity actions allow users to trigger predefined actions on entities within lab requests. These actions are configured through trigger sets, making them reusable across multiple definitions.
Configuring Entity Actions
Within the Triggers tab of a lab request definition, create or edit a trigger set on the definition. This should be a trigger set on the definition, not a shared trigger set.
Click on the trigger set to view the individual triggers (A), navigating you to the Trigger Sets tab of the Form Admin page.

Select a trigger from the trigger set (B).
Within the Edit Trigger [Trigger Name] tab, configure specific actions and set when the trigger will fire. If you want the trigger to only be available as an entity action, set the “When” field to “Explicit”.

Within the Entity Action tab, adjust further configuration options. If you want the trigger to never be available as an entity action, set the Entity Action Behavior field to “Not Available As Action”.

Within the Constraints tab, add optional constraints to an entity action.

Within the Advanced tab, add a reference name.

To customize the style and color of entity action buttons, open the trigger’s “…” menu (C) and select “Set Icon” or “Set Color” to adjust how the button will appear on a lab request.

Adding Entity Actions as Buttons
On the Trigger Sets page, select an individual trigger that you want to add as an entity action button. Within the Advanced tab, copy its reference name (A).

On the lab request definition, select a group to add the entity action button to. Within the Actions tab of that group, select “Add New Action” (B).

Add a Label (C) and paste the entity action reference name copied in step one (D).

Once configured, the entity action will appear on the request as a button within the specific group it was added to.
