Lab Tasks

The Lab Tasks landing page displays all current and previous lab-related tasks that a user has been assigned, sorted by priority date. Lab tasks are simple reminders of any lab-related task, ranging from cleaning out a piece of equipment to running an experiment.

Lab tasks are sorted into two different categories for ease-of-use––ongoing tasks and previous ones. Users are also able to generate a new Lab Request by clicking on the button at the top of the screen and will be brought into the Lab Request interface; please see the Configuring Lab Requests support guide for step-by-step instructions.

Users are able to further sort the displayed lab tasks by clicking on the arrow next to Filters. Doing so will open a table, allowing users to use a dropdown menu to select which filters and categories they would like to sort by. For example, a user could sort by the request status within a particular material family and further narrow down the search by selecting only those tasks currently in progress. Some filters also include an exclude option, denoted by ≠, which will call up all of the lab tasks which do not fulfill the given condition.

To simplify this process, there are also four shortcut filters at the top of the screen––Relative/Absolute Dates, Timeline Tasks, Reverse Order, My Tasks––allowing users to re-order the lab tasks on the page. The Relative/Absolute Date button allows you to toggle each lab task between a specific date (say 23 March) and a relative one (say two weeks ago). The Timeline Tasks button will display all tasks that are in your project’s timeline. The Reverse Order shortcut will invert the order of the tasks in the interface, placing the oldest tasks at the top of the page. Finally, clicking the My Tasks button will display only the tasks assigned to you (by default, this button will be selected).

Users are able to add action items for themselves or others by clicking on the blue Add Todo button at the top of the page. Doing so will open a modal dialog box in which you can specify what material family, project, timeline, status, whom to assign, and other additional notes related to the task.

Within any given lab task, users can click on the arrows next to Measurements and Experiments to call up an enumerated list of the specific measurements and experiments used in that lab task. Under the Experiments list, there is a compare button which allows users to compare the inputs, outputs, mixes, and process parameters between experiments. A user will be brought to the same screen as if they had clicked on the Compare button on the Dashboard loading screen.
