Update to Enter Page Cell Menus

To improve usability and reduce visual clutter, we’re rolling out further updates to the Enter pages. These changes focus on making cell interactions more consistent, accessible, and user-friendly by:

  • Removing hover-based interactions
  • Standardizing the three-dot menu behavior across cell types
  • Expanding right-click functionality

New Header Cell Interaction

Earlier this year, we introduced a three-dot menu for body cells on Enter pages, allowing users to access options like copy, lock, and format. Learn more about this change.

We’re now extending that same functionality to header cells—the leftmost cells in the data grid that group related rows (e.g., Experiment Metadata, Expanded Ingredients, Ingredients, Category, Step Total, Calculations).

Previously, interacting with these header cells relied on hover behavior or clicking directly on the cell name, which led to a cluttered and inconsistent user experience, especially on mobile or touchscreen devices. This update introduces a cleaner, more accessible interaction model.

Now, when a header cell is selected, a blue three-dot icon will appear. Clicking the icon—or right-clicking on the cell—will open a dropdown menu with relevant actions.

This change has already been implemented for ingredient header cells on the Enter Recipe page, with additional rollouts planned for other Enter Recipe header cells as well as the Enter Measurements page.

Right-Click Menu Improvements

We’re also updating the right-click behavior across other Enter page cell types. Previously, right-clicking on header or body cells opened separate menus. With this update, right-clicking any cell will show the same options as the corresponding three-dot menu—providing a unified experience.

This behavior has been introduced for Enter Recipe header cells, and will soon expand to Enter Recipe body cells and Enter Measurements page cells.

We plan to remove the old hover-based and name-click interactions on April 24. This will ensure a cleaner, more accessible interface that aligns with modern spreadsheet applications.
